Information sheet 21.5 x 28. textual record : information and photos 1930*s 2012.043.007 1-5-8-30 Photo - Cranbrook Arch Two fieldstone arches once spanned the highway through Cranbrook at the East and West City limits. This, the eastern arch, was located at the intersection of 4th St N and Cranbrook St. They were built during 1930 at the initiation of the Board of Trade with the idea of providing relief labour. They were designed by Col. D. W. Philpot, City Engineer, and became a great tourist attraction. They were torn down in 1957 when the highway was widened. This photo shows the tower still on the Central Public School (1909), which was later removed.
