"Midway between Banff and Lake Louise and visible from the Canadian Pacific Railway transcontinental line in the Canadian Rockies stands a mighty mountain, eight miles from end to end and 9,380 feet at its highest peak.
Its crags and pinnacles thrust upward with the massive strength of medieval keeps and battlements. It dominates the landscape as did the castles of the barons in olden days.
Known, since its discovery in 1857, as Castle Mountain, this magnificent landmark has been re-named "Mount Eisenhower" as Canada's enduring tribute to General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, former Chief of Staff, U.S.A.
The new name was given during a visit to Canada of the former Supreme Commander of the Allied Armies early in 1946."
