Trackside with VIA, The First 35 Years
The author had been trackside with VIA Rail Canada since its inception. This is his trackside view of VIA. It's a book written by a VIAphile for fellow VIAphiles. This book is not a corporate history of VIA, nor is it a coffee table book full of glossy photos of VIA trains. As a product of two railways intent on shedding their passenger train operations, VIA inherited equipment and practices from CN & CP. The transition to independence in the intervening years has not been easy, but it has provided VIAphiles with a delightful variety of equipment and consists.
